Looking for that gorgeous riding or driving Belgian draft for some fun adventures? Here he is! Sundance Horse Rescue is looking for just the right forever home for this kind and talented gelding. “Chip” is 16 years old, 17 hh, healthy, sound, smart and as gentlemanly as can be. Truly, he is so calm and loving. Chip saunters on and off the trailer, stands for grooming, bathing, farrier, tacking, harnessing, mounting… He is comfortable with other horses, dogs, cats, goats and children.
We have had professional trainers ride and ground drive him. For riding, he moved off verbal, hand and leg cues with a slow and smooth ride. He drives with verbal cues and has pulled carriages and logs as a single or double team in the past. He nickers when he sees us and loves to be loved on. Up to date on dental, vaccinations, deworming and farrier (front shoes only). He is a dream horse ready for his forever family.
Chip and Sweet Pea – 20yo Mule mare - have been together for 10 years. We are rehoming them as a pair as they are bonded and very sweet to each other. Sweet Pea knows how to drive, as well. We have not done any driving with her, but from what we understand, she used to be a part of a team that pulled carriages. She has glaucoma in her right eye and it is clouded over, but is doesn’t seem to bother her much. She can see figures and shadows and gets around well and doesn’t mind us cleaning or grooming around it. She should still be able to drive. She is just as sweet as can be which is why we renamed her “Sweet Pea”. She’s just a doll. Based on her coloring, we think she might be a Belgian cross (maybe an American Mammoth) but is still on the smaller side at about 14.1 hh – but has a big belly at this time.
Photos and videos below.
We are currently accepting Adoption Applications that can be found here.
Adoption Fee: $4500 for both of them, but negotiable to the right person and home. All fees go directly into the rescue to support all our horses in need.
Please contact us with any questions on Chip and Sweet Pea. You MUST come meet them. They will steal your heart. 💖
