We are looking for just the right adoptive home for this sweet girl. Continue below to read her story.
From Fear to Freedom: “Hope” the Tripping Horse Begins Her Healing Journey
Once used in cruel Mexican rodeos as a tripping horse, Hope's life was defined by fear, pain, and survival. In these events, horses are shocked with a probe to scare them into running at full speed, then a cowboy deliberately lassos one or more of their legs causing them to crash to the ground —often leading to devastating injuries, emotional trauma, and years of suffering – if not instant death. But now, Hope’s story is taking a new turn.
Today, Hope is safe with us at Sundance Horse Rescue. Though her legs bear the scars of rope burns and she may be living with a dislocated or fractured hip, she shows remarkable courage by allowing us to care for her. While she remains shy and often flinches when we gently reach to touch her, she’s slowly beginning to trust again—learning that not all humans will cause her harm. Each day, she is growing more trust and listening as we whisper to her: “You are safe now and you will never be hurt again.”
Despite everything she’s endured, there’s a quiet strength in her spirit and a softness in her eyes that reflect a deeply loving nature that continues to inspire us.
But her recovery is far from over.
Hope needs ongoing veterinary care, nutritious feed, and daily gentle handling to restore her confidence and undo years of abuse. These essential steps come at a cost—one that the rescue cannot bear alone. That’s why they’re asking for the community’s help.
