Sundance Horse Rescue and Sanctuary is an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit welfare organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of injured, neglected, abused, abandoned or unwanted horses. We provide horses with a safe, healthy haven to recover, heal and return to good physical and emotional health before being adopted into caring and loving, forever homes.

  • So far in 2024, we have rescued 34 horses and rehomed 29.  We currently have 14 horses at either the Rescue or Sanctuary – 5 are available for adoption and we are actively looking for homes for 19 additional horses from their current homes to new forever homes.
  • We have 30+ amazing volunteers who help keep the horses and animals healthy and happy.  If you would like to volunteer, please visit our Volunteer page to learn more.
  • We have wonderful supporters, like you, who help us with monetary and item donations (horse blankets, grooming supplies and building supplies). We couldn’t do it without you!
  • In 2002 and 2023, we helped rehome 57 horses, 26 goats, 5 sheep, 12 chickens and 8 pigs!

Current Fundraiser:
We need to raise $6200 for another trailer load of hay and grain to get us through the winter months.  We currently have 14 horses to feed and several are on soaked pellets and supplements due to age, dietary, teeth or weight gain needs.  We are spending hundreds of dollars each week just on grain.  Would you please help us?  Any amount will help and is 100% tax deductible.  We will send you a donation acknowledgement letter for your tax records.
100% of your donation goes directly to the care and well-being of the horses.

Sundance Horse Rescue is honored to to lease a lovely piece of property in Penn Valley with 40 acres of lush grass, gentle hills and a large lake. At this time, 4 horses call the Sanctuary their home.  We will be keeping up to 10 horses on this property. Photos below.

Your horse in the Sundance Sanctuary will enjoy a glorious life of year round grazing with supplemental hay in winter months, romping through the fields and trees and drinking and splashing in the half acre lake.  There is plenty of shelter from trees and shelter structures and they are checked on and loved on every day.  Supplements or medicine is also administered daily if needed.  If you would like more information, please contact us.  We would love to have your beloved horse join our Sanctuary herd.

We are here most every day caring for the animals and doing projects on the ranch. We welcome you to come visit the horses and other rescue animals, but since the rescue is located on our home property, we do ask for scheduled appointments. Please call or email for an appointment.
