Rosalie is a truly lovely, mild-mannered mare whose calm presence and affectionate nature make her impossible not to adore. Over the years, she has shared her life with her companion Sammy, forming a bond that lasted 15 years—filled with shared meals, playtime, rest, and endless companionship.

In August 2022, Rosalie and Sammy came into our care after their owner passed away. We provided them with gentle exercise, healthy supplements, hay, grooming, and full veterinary care. At the time, both were about 20 years old, thriving together and fully integrated into our herd. They got along beautifully with other horses—both mares and geldings—as well as our dogs, cats, and farm

animals. Watching them trot and lope through the pasture, heads and tails held high, was a daily joy.

Rosalie and Sammy were adopted by a couple in Sebastopol where they were living happily as pasture pets. Sadly, a year later, the owner became ill and Rosalie and Sammy returned to the rescue.

Sadly Rosalie lost her dear companion Sammy to an intestinal rupture. She mourned deeply for a week, but with the love of her herd, she has returned to her wonderful, warm self.

Rosalie was rideable, but has healed through a bout of EPM, so now we recommend her as a loving companion only.  rideable, though her days now are best suited to light riding or gentle exercise. She understands mounting, responds well to verbal cues, and has a swift, respectful walk. Most of all, she thrives in a pasture environment where she can graze, romp, and share companionship with other horses.

She is ready for a loving forever home where she can enjoy the peace, care, and companionship she deserves—whether alongside another equine friend or simply soaking up the love of a devoted human.

Rosalie is a gentle soul with a heart full of love—come meet her and see how easily she will steal yours.
