Leo the Lamb

Leo’s journey began in the most fragile way imaginable—but his story quickly became one of survival, compassion, and incredible heart.

At just four days old, Leo was rescued from a farm where he had been born with contracted tendons in both front legs and abandoned by his mother. Weak, cold, and starving, he had crawled his way up a hill and taken shelter behind a tree—left there with little chance of survival. But fate had other plans.

When we found him, we wrapped him tightly to warm his tiny body, bottle-fed him with lamb formula, and held him close through the night. Against all odds—escaping starvation, freezing temperatures, and predators—Leo held on. With the help of our veterinarian, we created splints for his front legs to help him stand and begin healing. From that moment on, he was surrounded by love, care, and unwavering dedication.

Leo didn’t just survive—he thrived.

In his early days, he wore a diaper and slept beside us, eventually transitioning to a cozy dog crate, and later to his favorite nighttime retreat: a straw-filled baby pool. He became part of the family in every sense of the word. He plays with dogs and cats, grazes alongside horses, and eagerly joins in on daily adventures. Leo rides in the car for errands, hikes through nature, and even visits the beach and river. As a baby, he was so tiny and portable that he once snuck into a movie theater in a tote bag—our little secret.

Today, Leo continues to defy expectations. His left leg has healed beautifully, while his right leg remains affected—but that doesn’t slow him down. He runs, jumps, and keeps up with the other animals with inspiring determination. We are looking for a vet to help us find a way to support his leg and body with a brace of some sort.

Through it all, he remains full of life, love, and personality.

And oh—what a personality he has.

Affectionately known by many nicknames (perhaps the longest in lamb history!), Leo is appropriately named
“Leodore the Little Lame Lamb Baby Boop Schmutz Muffin Graham Cracker Munch-ka-roonio McCoy.”

Leo is more than a rescue—he is family. A symbol of perseverance, joy, and the powerful bond between humans and animals.
