Kit
25 yo Mare
Shagya Arabian

Kit is a truly special Shagya Arabian—graceful, wise, and the embodiment of “been there, done that.” There’s something mesmerizing about watching her quietly graze or effortlessly lope through the pasture, carrying herself with a calm confidence that only comes from a life well lived.
Born in Hungary, Kit later made her way to the United States, where she has spent most of her life alongside her brother, Vitez (also available for adoption). Together, they’ve shared incredible experiences, including participating in parades and shows. Kit herself was a talented show jumper, showcasing both athleticism and heart. While we’ve been advised that she should no longer be ridden due to a sore hip, she shows no signs of lameness or discomfort and continues to move with ease and elegance.
What truly sets Kit apart is her affectionate nature. She absolutely loves being groomed and especially enjoys having her back gently stroked. She is kind, gentle, and deeply connected to her people—a horse who forms meaningful bonds and brings a quiet joy to those around her.
Kit’s transition to the rescue came under difficult circumstances. Her previous owner, who had lovingly cared for her since birth, underwent a series of surgeries that made it impossible to continue her care. It was a heartbreaking decision for the family, and we are committed to finding Kit the same level of love and devotion in her next home. While she and Vitez can be adopted together, they are not overly bonded and can also thrive in separate homes.
Kit is healthy and well-maintained, up to date on vaccinations, dental care, deworming, and farrier visits. Due to some wear in her teeth, she does best on a soaked pellet diet, though she still enjoys nibbling on soft hay and chopped forage. She is currently on a half pill of Prascend for mild Cushing’s disease, but shows none of the typical symptoms—no heavy coat, no lethargy, just a happy, vibrant mare.
Kit is the perfect companion horse—whether for a person seeking connection or for another horse (mare or gelding) in need of a calm and steady friend.
If you’re looking for a beautiful soul to share your days with, Kit is ready to meet you. Help her find a loving forever home where she can continue to be cherished, comfortable, and at peace.
