Latte is a hoot! A truly unforgettable little mare who brings laughter and joy to everyone she meets. Spunky, inquisitive, and full of life, she keeps us entertained every single day. She nickers at just about anything, loves to breathe softly with you, and will happily lean in for sweet little kisses on her nose. Her personality is as warm and inviting as her name suggests.

When Latte arrived at the rescue last September, she needed serious care. She came to us with severely overgrown hooves, laminitis, a heavy winter coat, and clear signs of metabolic challenges such as Cushing’s (PPID) or insulin resistance. We immediately got to work—running blood tests, starting her on Prascend, transitioning her to a low-sugar diet, clipping her coat, and putting her on a consistent hoof trimming schedule every three weeks.

In just six weeks, Latte amazed us all. Her follow-up tests showed her insulin and PPID levels had returned to normal. Even our veterinarian was stunned, calling it “one of the most remarkable turnarounds in hormone levels” they had seen in quite some time. Latte’s resilience and spirit truly shine through—she is a fighter with a heart of gold. She will need to remain on Prascend and a low-carb diet for the foreseeable future, but she’s thriving and happy.

Before coming to us, Latte lived alongside five dogs and had never actually lived with other horses—only seeing them from a distance. Since arriving, she has adjusted beautifully. She now lives comfortably with both mini horses and larger horses and gets along well with all of them. She loves to toss her head and run alongside her herd, embracing her new life to the fullest.

Latte has not had a lot of experience with children. Although we have not observed any negative behavior, we believe she would do best as a companion for an adult rather than as a child’s mini. She would make a wonderful partner for someone looking for connection, personality, and a truly special bond—whether alongside human companionship or new four-legged friends.
