HOPE
7 yo Mare
Peruvian Passo

Adopted 2025
Hope’s early life was marked by fear, pain, and survival. Once used in cruel Mexican rodeos as a tripping horse, she endured shocking, dangerous events designed to make her run and fall—often causing serious injury and emotional trauma. Her legs bear the scars of rope burns, and she may be living with a dislocated or fractured hip. Despite all this, Hope’s spirit remains unbroken.
Hope arrived into the arms of Sundance Horse Rescue, where we shared kindness and gentleness with her. Though shy and cautious, flinching at sudden touches, she was slowly learning to trust again. With daily gentle handling, whispering reassurance, and patience, she was discovering that humans can be caring and safe. Her soft eyes and quiet strength reflected a deeply loving nature that continues to inspire everyone who meets her.
Hope’s recovery is ongoing. She requires veterinary care, nutritious feed, and consistent, gentle attention to rebuild her confidence and undo years of abuse. While the journey is long, each day brings small victories—moments when she begins to play, relax, or nuzzle her caregivers in trust.
Hope has now found a loving home with a couple in Cupertino, CA. This couple brings experience, patience, and a heart full of love to give Hope the forever home she deserves. She found peace and safety, as well as, a partner to walk beside her as she learns to enjoy life and feel secure again.
Her past cannot be erased, but her future is filled with peace, love, and hope. Hope now has the second chance every horse deserves.
