Sundance Horse Rescue and Sanctuary is an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit welfare organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of injured, neglected, abused, abandoned or unwanted horses. We provide horses with a safe, healthy haven to recover, heal and return to good physical and emotional health before being adopted into caring and loving, forever homes.

We need to raise $6200 for another trailer load of hay and grain to get us through the next months and into winter. We currently have 17 horses to feed and several are on soaked pellets and supplements due to age, dietary, teeth or weight gain needs. We are spending hundreds of dollars each week just on grain. Would you please help us? Any amount will help and is 100% tax deductible. We will send you a donation acknowledgement letter for your tax records.

Do you want to learn more about hooves but are overwhelmed by the amount of information on the internet? Do you prefer in person learning? This clinic will leave you inspired and empowered to advocate for your horse’s health and soundness! We are thrilled and honored to have Melody here to present her Holistic Horse and Hoof Care Clinic. Melody has an immense amount of knowledge in hoof trimming/balancing, hoof health, and how diet and nutritional health and the overall wellbeing of your horse can relate to happy healthy horses and hooves for their whole lives.

Melody O’Brien has been a Hoof Care Practitioner since 2011 and is a certified Practitioner, Mentor and Clinician with the Progressive Hoof Care Practitioners (progressivehoofcare.org). Since Melody began this journey, she has gained a depth of experience in the field, combined with ongoing education in hoof care, nutrition, biomechanics, bodywork, and holistic horse health through mentorships, webinars, clinics, and conferences.
Melody’s intention is to advocate for horses by educating and empowering horse owners in Whole Health Hoof Care: An approach to trimming that emphasizes that healthy hooves are a result of proper nutrition, an active lifestyle, and frequent, non-invasive trimming.
Melody is also an herbalist and gardener, and co-founder of the Wild Mountain Herbal Collective. The Naturopathy program at Southern Cross University in Australia introduced her to medicinal herbs, and she now grows herbs to use in her own medicine and for horse health.

- So far in 2024, Sundance Horse Rescue has rescued and rehomed 28 horses and have 14 available for adoption/foster
- We currently have 14 horses at either the Rescue or Sanctuary – 8 are available for adoption, and we are actively rehoming 7 additional horses from their current homes to new forever homes.
- We have amazing volunteers who help keep the horses and animals healthy and happy. But in need of more. Come join us!
- We have wonderful supporters, like you, who help us with monetary and item donations (horse blankets, grooming supplies and building supplies). We couldn’t do it without you!
- In 2022 and 2023, we helped rescue or rehome 57 horses, 22 goats, 5 sheep, 12 chickens and 8 pigs!

Your horse in the Sundance Sanctuary will enjoy a glorious life of year round grazing with supplemental hay in winter months, romping through the fields and trees and drinking and splashing in the half acre lake. There is plenty of shelter from trees and shelter structures and they are checked on and loved on every day. Supplements or medicine is also administered daily if needed.
