Adopted!! February 2022
January 2022: Bitsy has been adopted! We are so excited for Bitsy to start her new life with her loving new adopter, Cindee down in the Cupertino Hills. Bitsy will be joining Cindee's two mini's; Cinnamon and Trigger. The bond is growing fast between Cindee and Bitsy and Bitsy and her new friends. We couldn't be more thrilled.
October 2021: Bitsy is quiet and shy and the sweetest little Welsh pony we have met. She is about 25 years old and has spent the last seven years in a small paddock out in the middle of 5000 acres near Beale Air Force Base. She only had 2 sheep as companions for the past year there - living off the land and only checked on periodically. We're sure she was very lonely. :( The owners were moving, and unfortunately, their first option for a new home fell through, so they were going to put her down. We were called by another party and we scooped her up hours before that dreadful moment. We are so happy we did! She is so precious. Really a very, VERY special girl.
We have worked gently and patiently to gain her trust and she responded to us very well. She comes to dinner time calls and whistles and knows what "Bitsy, in your stall" means and trots right in. She responds to gentle guidance from body and head positions and to calm speaking. She is easy in new situations but likes a routine. She is calm with new horses and animals.
Her new family will need to give her very special home with lots of love and patience where she can feel safe and cared for. She is not a child's pony. She will need the maturity of a young adult or adult to be patient, understand her, be slow and calm and gain her trust. Even when she gets a little nervous, there is absolutely no kick or bite in her - she's a very gentle and kind girl.
She does have some cataracts so it is difficult for her to see at night and Cushings that is managed with Prascend. She loves grain and a handful of hay for meals. Bitsy will need a home where she can roam and graze, but won't eat too much, won't run into anything at night and where she can have a buddy to bond with. Even though she is out with the herd during the day, aAs you will see in the photos, our lovely Thoroughbred mare, Lacey, is her friend she pals around with. Well, actually more of Lacey's desire, than Bitsy's. We actually think Bitsy has a crush on our Arabian gelding and fortunately Lacey is nice enough to let them flirt a little. :)
Bitsy is up to date on shots, worming, teeth float, barefoot trims and is microchipped. If you have a special place in your heart and home for this little one, please contact us. She will make you very happy as your new quiet, gentle friend.
