July 2023 - Rosalie and Sammy are available for adoption again. They had been living a peaceful life in Sebastopol for the past year, but unfortunately the owner has become ill and cannot care for them any longer. Rosalie is rideable for trails. Both horses are about 19 years old. Please see below for more info on them and their past.
August 2022: Rosalie and Sammy are quite the couple. They are both about 18 years old and have been together for 15 years. Their owner fell ill this summer and passed away. A friend of the widow called us and we came to pick them up. We have given them some healthy supplements and hay, gentle exercise and thorough bathings and groomings. They are up to date on shots, worming, farrier, and their teeth would need to be looked at again next year.
They do everything together. Eat, drink, play and rest. Rosalie is rideable and we have assessed her skills. She stands for mounting and knows all her cues. She has a swift walk, but respects responds well to verbal direction. Sammy was never started under saddle. They would also be quite happy being beautiful pasture pals. We definitely will rehomed them together.
They have been integrated into the herd (both mares and geldings) and get along great with all of them and our dogs, cats and farm animals. They are really wonderful to watch as they do just about anything. Of course, watching them trot or lope around the pasture is lovely with their heads and tails held high. (see videos at bottom). We will want their new home to be a pasture environment where they can romp and graze together. Contact us to come meet them!
