February 2021: Miley has been adopted! The first photo below is Miley munching away on the lush green grass in his new home in Sonoma with a herd of 5 other horses and 500 acres. A horses dream home!
November 2020: Miley is a 24 yo Quarterhorse gelding who has been well-loved and taken care of by his owner for the past 15 years. Her circumstances do not allow for her to keep him anymore.
He's a good trail horse but needs an intermediate rider, somebody who has confidence and knows what they are doing. He has been ridden by children (8 year olds) this past summer who were being given lessons under the supervision of an instructor and he did very well with them. Miley is very social and enjoys interacting with people –and horses. And he's fine with farm animals as well. He's an easygoing horse and has had a relatively easy life and is in very good shape for his age. We have assessed and ridden Miley and can attest to his good behavior under saddle, as he was delightful to ride. He has always been ridden in a bitless bridle (which will come with him) and treeless saddles, and has been barefoot for 15 years. His owner has always looked to the least intrusive tack to be kinder to the horse. He stands for the vet, trimmer, and for tacking up and mounting. He is up to date on worming and barefoot trims.
Miley's owner has strived to provide him with the most natural living conditions possible because she believes that is what's necessary to meet a horse's basic need for movement and companionship and grazing and it produces the healthiest and happiest horses. She seeks a home where he can live in a herd (or at least one other horse) on a good-sized pasture 24/7 with shelter available.
